Hello my favorite podcast listeners and friends!

As some of you know, I’m currently in the midst of getting my bachelors in journalism (my minor in English was completed 2 years ago, which is wild to say) but I did take last semester off school for a mental regroup. Going back to school in your 30’s in DEFINITELY a whole new ballpark from when I was 19😂

My first day of classes started yesterday and it takes me about a month to acclimate to my new schedule, which I’ve figured out over the years.

So I will be taking September off the podcast. But I will be dropping in to update you guys on books I’m reading and the audiobooks I’m listening to on my 1 hour drive to campus on Tuesdays.

ALSO! I do have one planned interview at the end of September that will definitely prepare everyone for spooky season. But like…cute-spooky. It’ll make sense when I release it LOL

Today I’m sharing the most outrageous news I can’t believe, me, a very picky reader, is saying:

I’ve had very many 5 star reads this year😳😍

I’ve only read 34 books but my goodness, I’m on a ROLL with these bangers! I wanted to share my last 2 five stars I read because it’s a must 👏

1. Sunrise on the Reaping. Without spoilers, I would like to yell at every single person who said “this book is sooooo good” to me but single-handedly forgot to mention the whole book is just a pile of devastating events?! Anyway, 5/5 stars but will probably never read another Hunger Games book because I was way too affected😅

2. Loving a Vampire is Total Chaos by @aurahayesauthor . Now, I have tagged this writing duo in too many posts and even a TikTok but it’s because I loved this book so much (I’m so sorry, Aura Hayes😮‍💨😂) It was super unique and cute but also a little gory in the way it was supposed to be (I promise that makes sense with the plot lol) I need book number 2 right now and I’m not even a big series reader. Wow okay I’m back in my vampire era - what about it?

I thought I would shake things up and tell you all about some books I’ve recently read and loved!!

Let me tell you, though, I’ve been reading some GOOD ones this year. These 3 were my last 5⭐️ star reads so here’s me yapping about them:

🃏One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig. I’m not a huge fantasy reader but I bought this book because everyone on Bookstagram read it (it’s called peer pressure!!!!!!!) and I picked it up this year. GOODNESS GRACIOUS, I’M HOOKED. I’m currently 50% through book 2 aka the last book and for once, Bookstagram was SO right👏

🚢 Ship of Dreams by @authorkelseypainter. I loved this unique plot so much! Kelsey wove nonfiction, which was the Titanic story, with a fictional love story and it made me feel so many emotions. There is an HEA, trust me, and it’s perfect 🤌

🇮🇸 Out of Thin Air by Anthony Adeane. A random nonfiction book I found in a LFL that made me go 🤯 It’s an Icelandic true story of how a couple people confessed to 2 m*rders in the 1970’s but they actually didn’t do it. But it’s REALLY about police corruption, the battle of clearing the innocent that were found guilty with no evidence, and how people try to move on from their trauma but at the end of the day, they never will. It got a few low reviews online but I honestly loved it.

Now, I’m currently reading Two Twisted Crowns (physical), Savage Lands by Stacey Marie Brown (audio), and about to start Loving a Vampire is Total Chaos by Aura Hayes (Kindle.)

Wild and Windy in Chicago was SO FUN! I can attest! I was there!

The excitement that I get from seeing authors I love, seeing friends (and making new friends) in person, and seeing past podcast author guests not behind a screen for once, is unmatched.

Here are my highlights (in no particular order):

❣️ @nanamalonewriter (whom I could yap with for hours) saying “you’re taller in person” 😂 I swear I’m only 5’8!
❣️Letting @willowaster know how a kind email she sent me still sticks with me a year later
❣️Getting a picture of the dream team, @authorsjsylvis and @booktastic_blonde (and lil ole me)
❣️Repping @moodreadercandles with my Nikki Castle picture because she did a candle collab with Kiss and Tale
❣️Locking eyes with @rebelwarren_author and saying “please come on my podcast” 🤣 (I’m so serious, though)
❣️When I went up to @authorsmassery (a past guest) and said “I’m Megan!” and she goes “yes, I know. We’ve met.” For some reason, that interaction still cracks me up. You and Sammi are BOTH my number 1’s😉

Of course the whole weekend was filled with laughter and finding hidden bookish goodies on each hotel floor. If you went to W&W this weekend, I hope you had a blast, too!

2️⃣ At the end of the month, I will have the author on IG Live (if I can) and we can all chat about the book with them! It’s not a podcast episode and will not be posted on streaming platforms, so you can ask all the questions you want in the comment section.

3️⃣ I will have a giveaway (again, if I can) of the book before the month we read, so if you plan on joining, stay tuned beforehand for that post. I have a SIGNED COPY of Giving Me Butterflies to give a book club reader 😍
